UHDAS Data Processing DemoΒΆ

ADCP processing demos are provided as an example of how to process ADCP data under various acquisition and instrument combinations. The UHDAS processing demo includes examples of

  • an at-sea processing directory (untouched)
  • from-scratch one-pass processing (i.e. starting over)
  • post processing of a dataset from sea

Although the instrument constellation will be different between ships, this example contains most of the necessary ingredients. To replicate the steps in the demo, you will need to install CODAS processing software as well as Python.

CODAS installation instructions start here.

You won’t get much out of the UHDAS demo if you have not used quick_adcp.py or processed any ADCP data before with CODAS processing. You are strongly encouraged to get used to CODAS with some VmDAS LTA data. You must be on line or have qdemo_lta.zip installed.

Specifically

  • Read the quick_adcp.py overview.

  • Under “Practice Datasets” look for the column with LTA example.

  • Get the data, read the links, process the data:
    • Look at the example directory and notes for more information.

This figure is a cartoon showing where CODAS processing fits with LTA and UHDAS datasets. Hopefully it will be illuminating and not confusing.
