Oceanographic observations are conducted in the seas adjacent to Japan and in
the western North Pacific on board six vessels: the Ryofu Maru,
the Keifu Maru (both operated by Climate and Marine Department
at the Headquarters), the Kofu Maru (operated by Hakodate Marine
Observatory), the Shumpu Maru (Kobe Marine Observatory),
the Chofu Maru (Nagasaki Marine Observatory) and the Seifu
Maru (Maizuru Marine Observatory).
