aAll values were calculated using theQUICKBASIC computer program of Lewis and Wallace (1998) with the default values for the secondary constants;the correction from 4C to 20C can cause the resulting pCO2 to differ by 65 µatm depending on the constants used. The ΔfCO2@20C/ΔDIC values in µatm/(µmol/kg) show that in Pacific deep water a precision of 1.5 µmol/kg in DIC corresponds to approximately 10 µatm in fCO2.
