Partial pressure (or fugacity) of carbon dioxide, sea surface temperature, sea surface salinity and barometric pressure collected from the Mooring PIRATA_8N38W deployments in the Atlantic Ocean (NCEI Accession 0167529)
PACKAGE DESCRIPTION: This dataset includes chemical, physical, meteorological, and time series data collected from Mooring PIRATA_8N38W deployments in the Atlantic Ocean from 2008-04-20 to 2013-10-13. These data include mole fraction of CO2 in air in equilibrium with the seawater at sea surface temperature and measured humidity, sea surface temperature in degrees Celsius, sea surface salinity, and atmospheric pressure.

Abbreviation: | fCO2 |
Unit: | uatm |
Observation type: | Surface time series |
Measured or calculated: | Measured |
Sampling instrument: | Seawater pump |
Location of seawater intake: | Mooring buoy |
Analyzing instrument: | Absolute, non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) gas analyzer: LI-COR model 7000 |
Detailed sampling and analyzing information: | Merlivat, L., and P. Brault (1995), CARIOCA Buoy: Carbon Dioxide Monitor, Sea Technology, 10, 23-30. |
Equilibrator type: | CARIOCA sensor |
SEA CO2 gas detector manufacturer: | Licor, Inc |
SEA CO2 gas detector model: | Licor 7000 |
SEA CO2 gas detector resolution: | +/- 3 uatm |
Standardization technique: | The calibration is done in the laboratory by comparing the response of the spectrophotometer to the fCO2 of a seawater solution determined with an infrared analyzer (Licor 7000). The CARIOCA response is determined over the anticipated range of fCO2. The CARIOCA sensor is calibrated before and after deployment. |
