Drifting Platforms
The dataset contains surface ocean currents derived from drifting platforms
along a path through space with monotonically increasing times. The date
coverage of the dataset is from 1894 to 1993.
Data are stored in the GOCD text format or NetCDF format for
trajectory feature type.
Interactive Map Instructions
The interactive map provides access to view and download datasets in the
selected time period.
○ Select time period from the pull-down menu show the
start and end locations of drifter traveling tracks connected by white lines on
the map in the selected time period.
○ Click an orange (red) marker display the information
of the start date and location of the drifter and links to download of the
surface ocean current data derived from the drifter.
○ Use click and drag to position the map.
○ Use the zoom control (upper left) or scroll wheel to
re-size the map.
○ Hold the SHIFT key down plus click and drag (also
known as rubber-banding the area) then release both to zoom in.
○ Click the "Reset" button to reset the map.
