0-email.txt - Email correspondence between NCEI and submitter. NCEI requested that the submitter updates their files to include latitude, longitude, site names, and collection dates. NCEI also requested a data dictionary (Readme.txt). NCEI confirmed with the submitter that the original date range should be changed to match the dates in the CSV files. The data package I am referring to is entitled: "Marsh vertical accretion, sediment grain size, and Be-7 activity in Coos Bay (Oregon, USA) from 20110101 to 20220330". I am performing the preliminary appraisal on your submission, and I have some questions and comments regarding it. This email and your response will be included in the Archival Information Package (AIP) to provide provenance for changes made to your original submission. 1. No latitude/longitude for the stations listed in "7Be data.csv". Please list the lat/lon in an additional column, or you can add an additional .csv with a listing of *ALL* site names and lats/lons. 2. No site name or date in "Grain size summary_repository.csv". This is not necessary, since you can see the sample name in "7Be...csv", but it would be extremely helpful to add the site name, lats/lons, and collection date columns here. 3. Empty cells in "Grain size summary_repository.csv" and "Table S2_marker horizon data.csv". These should be replaced with zeros or "NA". 4. Please add a data dictionary (.csv) or readme (.txt) file to describe the meaning of all column headers. It should be clear to someone that is unfamiliar with your data. 5. Date listed in the title does not match dates in .csv files. Date range based on dates provided in .csv files should be 20110506 - 20230719. Is it okay if I make this change for you? You can resubmit the corrected files to me via email. Please let me know if you have any questions. Please see the revised files attached and comments below. Note that I changed the names of the files to be clearer. 1. "7Be_data.csv" now includes columns for latitude and longitude. 2. "Grain_size_data.csv" now contains columns for site name, collection date, latitude, and longitude. 3. All empty cells in "Grain_size_data.csv" and "Marker_horizon_data.csv" are now zeros or NA. 4. A readme .txt file is attached. 5. Yes, please update the date range. In your new Readme.txt, I think you named this file "Marker_horizon_data.csv". The main issues with the originally submitted file were the empty cells and unclear column headers. It seems to me that you just forgot to attach the updated version in your last email. Please get the updated file to me when you can. Attached is the updated version titled "Marker_horizon_data.csv". Let me know if you need anything else. Molly
