There is just the editing of your abstract. The abstract is too short and needs more detail. NCEI would like to see it expanded to discuss the purpose of the data and research project. We are looking for details on the data's variables, dates, instruments used, methodology and if applicable any projects associated with it. The abstract needs to be at least 2-4 sentences to make a good paragraph. My advice is to look at it as how would you like someone outside your research group to understand this data and project. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you, Mia Infante luci.jolie@gmail.com Thu, Jan 12, 2023 at 11:42 AM To: Mia Infante - NOAA Federal Cc: Paul Lemieux - NOAA Federal , Lauren Jackson - NOAA Federal Hello Mia, Thank you very much for the information and for the help! Copied below is an expanded abstract, and please let me know if you would like me to make any changes: The dataset provides measured salt marsh shoreline retreat rates and estimated hydrodynamic data for twelve sites in the Great Marsh system in Massachusetts, which comprises Plum Island Sound and Essex Bay. Shoreline retreat rates were measured using repeat RTK-GPS shoreline surveys from 2015 to 2020 and Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS). Estimated hydrodynamic data for the twelve sites were derived from 64 Simulating Nearshore Waves (SWAN) simulations and a calibrated Delft3D hydrodynamic model. The data were generated for a study examining the relationship between wave power and salt marsh retreat. The dataset was used for a paper that is currently undergoing review. If/when that manuscript gets published, would it make sense to refer to it in this abstract? Is that something that can be updated after the data are archived? I can also refer to the archived data in the data availability statement of the paper. Please let me know what you think, and thank you again for all your help! For your question, NCEI does not normally refer to papers in the abstract, but we can reference their paper in the metadata and it will show up under the documentation tab of the landing page. The paper is not yet published, but if/when it does, I can share the information with you to include in the metadata. Thank you again for the help in making these data available!
