Does the lone image file "P7100371.JPG" located in "2019-07-10/2019-07-10_Little_Conch_(sampling)/" need to be in one of the folders contained there to associate it with a specific sampling site ID? 2. Would you like one of the images to serve as a browse image that will show on the landing page instead of the map we create? It would appear where the NOAA graphic is in the previous link. Here is an example of a data collection using a field image. Finally, as a suggestion/request moving forward, if there is any way you could avoid using parentheses, periods, and spaces when naming files/folders it would be much appreciated! It can make some of the coding/scripting tasks we have to do difficult, as Linux doesn't like those characters, so if at all possible avoiding those characters would help make things process more easily. Allow me to address your questions/comments: 1. Yes. The name of the folder is important. I went this route rather than trying to give each individual image a meaningful name. So yes, it should remain in the folder, and there may be other folders with only 1-2 images. If any are empty, however, that should NOT be the case and could reflect a mistake! 2. Yes, I like this. Not sure if this will look good when shrunken down to 1-2 inches, so another option would be: A close-up of the polyps of the coral species featured in all the images. Or a normal scale shot of a colony: 3. OK, good to know. Are underscores okay (“_”)? What about dashes or backslashes for dates? In other words, in the example below, would it be better as “20190719_Little_Conch_sampling_images” ? _________________ On Dec 7, 2021, at 11:07 AM, Rebecca Wenker - NOAA Affiliate wrote: Hi Anderson, Thanks for getting back to me. Regarding your replies: 1. I was a little vague in my question and don't think I got my true meaning across, so let me rephrase it and provide a screenshot for context. In the folder "2019-07-10/2019-07-10_Little_Conch_(sampling)/", there is one photo file named "P7100371.jpg" which isn't housed in any of the subfolders within that folder (see the image below). This is the only instance where a photo file isn't contained in a subfolder for a sampling site, so I wanted to double check that the image didn't belong in any of those subfolders! 2. All of those images would work well I believe! I can use the first one, and if you end up not liking it you can request a revision and we can use one of the alternatives. 3. Yes underscores are definitely okay to use, and we like when data submitters use them! Dashes would be preferable for dates rather than backslashes. The example you provided (20190719_Little_Conch_sampling_images) works very well, but if your preference were to include dashes within the date that would also work! Normally, I would have put it in a folder called “habitat shots” but since it’s just one picture of a coral, it’s probably not very informative! Yes, I’ll see how the image looks when it goes “live,” and see if we should change it. I have totally different types of data (molecular) that are associated with the corals in these pictures for which I’ll need to submit the data. Do you think it would be better to A) start a totally new submission and reference the images (my original plan) or B) append the files to THIS submission so that they are all in the same place? I could make an argument for either approach, so please let me know if you guys have a preference. Thanks, Anderson
