From: Graham Kolodziej - NOAA Affiliate Date: Feb 11, 2021, 4:44 PM Subject: Lithophaga archive submission, NCEI Accession 224130 To: Errol Ronje - NOAA Federal Hi Errol, Perfect, I've created a data dictionary for both files, and have added the columns from the "ICE_Lithophaga core mass.csv" in the submission file. I've reattached the edited submission file, as well as the data dictionaries in csv form. Please let me know if anything needs further edits, etc., and I'll be happy to do so. Please reply with the data dictionary that explains the "ICE_Lithophaga BW standards" file and I will resume working on your submission. Thanks! --------------------------------------- From: Graham Kolodziej - NOAA Affiliate Date: Feb 11, 2021, 10:50 AM Subject: Lithophaga archive submission, NCEI Accession 224130 To: Errol Ronje - NOAA Federal Hi Errol, Okay, working on these now. With respect to the "ICE_Lithophaga BW standards.csv" file - none of these are experimental measurements, they're calibration measurements for the buoyant weight apparatus (i.e. to ensure the instrument is working properly and there is no drift over time). Basically we have a large stainless steel washer and a small stainless steel washer that we weigh three times each (and take a salinity measurement at each weight measurement) and then get the averages from. We do this at the beginning and end of each buoyant weight sampling (measurement of the actual experimental samples) to ensure the machine has not drifted in its reported weights over time. So, this is essentially a supplemental document, and therefore please let me know if it still needs to have its variables defined, or if it can be omitted, or if it can be explained via a data dictionary instead of in the Data Submission document? Thanks, Graham --------------------------------------- From: Errol Ronje - NOAA Federal Date: Feb 4, 2021, 9:14 PM Subject: Lithophaga archive submission, NCEI Accession 224130 To: Graham Kolodziej - NOAA Affiliate Hi Graham, I have been tasked with archiving your recent submission to NCEI (Lithophaga, NCEI Accession 224130) and have some questions about the dataset that require attention before we are able to publish the archive. The file "ICE_Lithophaga BW standards.csv" contains variables that are not listed/described in the submission form. Please add a description for each variable and the respective methodology (e.g., units, instruments) to the submission form for: Salinity, Standard, Mass1, Mass2, Mass3, AvgMass, Temp1, Temp2, Temp3, AvgTemp. Also, for "Standard" please define "Big washer" and "Small washer" in the submission form. Similarly, please add information for "Puck," "Treatment" and "Tank" for the "ICE_Lithophaga core mass.csv" data file. You can follow the same format as for the other variables you previously described with the initial data submission, adding fields as necessary. I have attached the original submission file for your convenience. Please return it to me and let me know if you have any questions.
