From: Thomas Ryan - NOAA Federal Date: Thu, Feb 4, 2021 at 11:44 AM Subject: Re: Questions regarding NCEI S2N Reference ID: LX4FM1 To: Peake, Bryan John Bryan, Thanks for your prompt response.  I understand that there are often many priorities that need attention. As I said in my first email, this email communication will be included in Archival Information Package (AIP) to provide provenance for changes made to your initial S2N submission. #A Modified the title as agreed. #2A The graphic, avgWCObs-1_ann0.png, that you provided will be used as the preview graphic and will be on the AIP landing page.  I think it is great to help submitters understand what data is included in the AIP. #2B The Stations-HIWCwMETA.csv you provided was added to the directory where your original data were copied .  A map, attached, was created by NCEI and is included with the other metadata created by NCEI. #2C Resolved #3 Resolved #4 Resolved Unless you have an issue/question with anything in this email, nothing else is required of you.   You will receive an automated email when your data are publicly available. Regards, Tom From: Thomas Ryan - NOAA Federal Date: Thu, Jan 21, 2021 at 2:18 PM Subject: Questions regarding NCEI S2N Reference ID: LX4FM1 To: Cc: nodc.dataofficer Bryan, I apologize for the delay in processing your submission I will be moving forward on getting it archived. I have a few comments and questions.  This email along with your responses will be included in the Archival Information Package (AIP) to provide provenance to any changes NCEI made to your submission.  #A Modify the title NCEI has a world-wide user base so clarifying that the data are for the continental U.S. would be helpful for a users in determing whether these data are suitable for their needs. Change title from: Heat Index and Wind Chill Climatology from 1973 to 2020 (NCEI Accession 0224863) Option 1 Continental United States Heat Index and Wind Chill Climatology from 1973 to 2020 (NCEI Accession 0224863) Option 2 Continental US Heat Index and Wind Chill Climatology from 1973 to 2020 (NCEI Accession 0224863) Option 3 Heat Index and Wind Chill Climatology for the continental US from 1973 to 2020 (NCEI Accession 0224863) Option 4 Please provide alternate title that you would prefer. #2A Preview Grahic from submitter All AIPs have a preview graphic which is usually created from the station locations and sometimes provided by submitter (example submitter provided, example from stations).   Do you have a preview graphic (png or jpg) that would be suitable for the AIP landing page that will assist a user in dertimining the suitability of the data? #2B Preview graphic from stations  stations-QC2020.txt Your submission contains stations-QC2020.txt.  It is important to know the locations of the stations and the file is important even if not used for preview graphic. Can you provide a file with the coordinates for these stations (preferably CSV in decimal degrees)?  #2C Preview graphic from bounding box If you do not provide a preview graphic or the specific coordinates for the stations, the preview graphic will be creating from the provided bounding box. See attached for graphic. #3 Author list The author list: Peake, Bryan; Timlin, Michael S.; Ashby, Travis; Midwestern Regional Climate Center Wolf, Ray; Rieck, Todd; National Weather Service Are the institutions, Midwestern Regional Climate Center and National Weather Service actual authors or included to indicate the association of the preceeding authors? #4 Source directories The sourcecode directory for HIWCDATA is empty which is fine. The sourcecode  directory in HIProb contains the following files, (all files will be removed except for "stations-QC2020.txt", code files can not archived in AIPs);  getHIXdata.py   goodfilemove.py   heatIndexCurve.R   Let me know if anything is not clear. I might have additional questions as I complete the archving process. Regards, Tom
