Source: Thermosalinograph data from the Hawaii Ocean Time (HOT) Series and
Woods Hole HOT (WHOTS) were submitted to NCEI through an automated process.

Actions: NCEI pulled the data and metadata files from
ftp://ftp.soest.hawaii.edu/hot/tsg/ and
ftp://mananui.soest.hawaii.edu/pub/hot/whots/whots_cruises/
to the data/0-data/ directory. An automated process extracted
metadata and station locations from the data files, and used those
locations to build a station location map.

Files:
about/
This directory contains files generated by NCEI with ancillary information
about the data submission.

0224849_lonlat.txt -
  Contains station locations for these data.  Each row contains the
  geographical position where these data were collected (longitude in the
  left column and latitude in the right column, both in degrees).

0224849_map.jpg -
  Station location map for these data.

data/0-data/
This directory contains the data files as HOT submitted them
to NCEI. The file naming conventions for these files are as follows:

hotXXXts.dat -
  where XXX is HOT cruise number
whots_YY_thermosal.dat -
  where YY is the WHOTS cruise number; same format as hotXXXts.dat
cruise_metadata.txt -
  pertinent information about each cruise; file is updated each time new cruises added to HOT/WHOTS FTP area.
