From: Maribel García-Ibáñez Date: Thu, May 12, 2022 at 10:09 AM Subject: [CARIMED] - Update of NCEI cruise metadata and files for 48UR20080215 To: Alex Kozyr - NOAA Affiliate Cc: marta Álvarez Hi Alex, Regarding NCEI cruise metadata and files for cruise 48UR20080215, here are the actions to be made on the NCEI website: Changes for data files on the NCEI file repository for 48UR20080215: It should include the files contained in the Google Drive folder for the cruise: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Vv7PuaqJNoz-rl3HPNgMZhulx_jgdB66 Reupload the data file (file: 48UR20080215_hy1.csv). Upload the map (file: map_cruise_48UR20080215.tif). Remove the .mat file (file: 48UR20080215_INI.mat). Remove the README file (file: README_48UR20080215.txt). Changes for metadata information on NCEI for 48UR20080215: The INVESTIGATORS and Principal Investigators should only be Giulio Catalano - Institute of Marine Sciences (ISMAR), National Research Council (CNR), Trieste, Italy. "VARIABLES/PARAMETERS" fields: For CTDTMP, and CTD Salinity: Add the field "Researcher name: V. Kovacevic, B.B. Manca (OGS)". For Dissolved Oxygen: Add the field "Researcher name: A. Luchetta, C. Cantoni (ISMAR)". For Silicate, and Nitrate: Add the field "Researcher name: A. Luchetta (ISMAR)". For Phosphate: Add the field "Researcher name: S. Cozzi (ISMAR)". For Total alkalinity: Update the field "Detailed sampling and analyzing information" with the following information: "Alkalinity was sampled on 300 mL borosilicate bottles, poisoned with 200 μL of HgCl2, sealed with grease and store in the dark at about 12 ºC until analysis in the ISMAR lab. Here they were analyzed following the open cell potentiometric method in Hernandez-Ayon et al. (Analitica Chimica Acta, 1999) using an automatic potentiometric titrator “685 Metrohm", controlled by PC and TIAMO programme, with a Pt combined electrode (Metrohm 6.0262.100), in a thermostatted (25 ± 0.01 ºC) compartment. The temperature was controlled with a HAAKE F6 (5 L) thermostatic bath. The system is coupled with a 5.0 mL burette or exchangeable unit. Batch #83 (Dr. Dickson) was used as a reference. The accuracy of alkalinity was ±2.9 μmol kg−1 checked by the titration of replicates of CRM and the reproducibility was ±2 µmol kg-1.". Update the field"Researcher name" with: "A. Luchetta, C. Cantoni (ISMAR)". For pH on total scale measured at 25ºC: Update the field "Detailed sampling and analyzing information" with the following information: "The pH was determined spectrophotometric method according to Clayton and Byrne (DSR, 1993). The indicator was a solution of m-cresol purple (Riedel-de Haën) prepared in MilliQ water (2 mM). All the absorbance measurements were obtained in a thermostatted (25 ± 0.05 ºC). After blanking with the sampled seawater without dye, 50 µL of the dye solution were added using a calibrated micropipette (Gilson F50). The accuracy of pH was checked with CRM (#83, Dr. Dickson) and TRIS solutions, the difference between measured and theoretical pH was -0.010 pH units using Merbach et al. (LO, 1973) constants. The reproducibility was ±0.002.". Update the field"Researcher name" with: "A. Luchetta (ISMAR)".
