Actions: In March 2020, CoRTAD Version 6 data were generated at the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) using the AVHRR Pathfinder V5.3 SSTs. CoRTAD Version 6 is the sixth in the series of CoRTAD datasets. In this version the following changes are made: 1. Similar to version 5 CoRTAD V6 data files are global in extent and contain one group of variables per file. In CoRTAD V4 and earlier, the globe was divided into 128 smaller regions and each file contained all of the variables. 2. Each file represents the weekly averaged data for 1982-2019 for the particular group of variables. 3. The metadata in the header of each netCDF file is revised and optimized to be fully compliant with the CF and ACDD conventions and with the NODC netCDF templates. 4. NOAA-19 is also included in CoRTAD V6 calculations. 5. Two additional ancillary data files with weekly average of Wind Speed and Sea Ice Fraction are added. Once the data were produced by NCEI, this archival information package (NCEI Accession) was generated. The files in netCDF format were copied to the data/0-data/ directory. A sample browse graphic for the SST anomaly data was created and copied to the about/ directory.
