***************************************************************** Journal for accession number: 0209037 Created on: 2020-02-05 13:28:13 UTC By: Yongsheng Zhang, NCEI Source: These data were submitted for archive to NCEI from the Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR), NOAA, as part of the oceanographic products from SAR-wind. Actions: Data were uploaded by STAR to the Production Distribution and Access (PDA) system; NCEI downloaded the data and SHA-384 fixity information files from the PDA. The data files were validated against the SHA-384 fixity information. An archival information package (NCEI Accession) was generated and the netCDF and GeoTiFF files were copied to the data/0-data/ directory. A sample browse graphic for the Sea Surface wind data provided by the producer was copied to the about/ directory. Files: about/ This directory contains files created by NCEI staff, including 'negotiable' information between NCEI staff and the data provider. 0209037_preview.png - Sample of a regional map for Level-2 Sea Surface Wind from SENTINEL-1A data. data/0-data/ This directory contains the data files as submitted to NCEI, including both graphics and NetCDF data files. 1. NetCDF data files: S1X_PCenter_YYYY_MM_DD_HH24_MI_SS_JJJJJJJJJJ_DDD.DD[EW]_DD.DD[NS]_ PP_F#_Model_wind_level2.nc Where: S1X=S1A or S1B representing Sentinel-1A or Sentinel-1B respectively PCenter=is the processing location identifier (variable length); e.g. ESA YYYY=is the 4 digit year MM=is the 2 digit month of the year (01-12) DD=is the 2 digit day of the month (01-31) HH24=is the 2 digit hour of the day (UTC time 00-23) MI=is the 2 digit minute of the hour (00 - 59) SS=is the 2 digit second of the minute (00-59) JJJJJJJJJJ=is the 10 digit Julian Seconds of the date (1 January 2000 at 00:00 equals 0000000000) Times prior to 2000 will have a leading minus (-) sign DDD.DD[EW]=is the Longitude in decimal degrees + (East or West) DD.DD[NS]=is the Latitude in decimal degrees + (North or South) PP=is the transmit and receive polarization (HH, VV, HV, VH) F#=Geophysical model function ID used for the conversion where F (a single digit) is frequency and # is a positive number (1 or more digits), which represents which geophysical model function (GMF) was used for the wind retrieval. The default value is 0. Model=is a string designating the model winds used for direction (="Fixed" if no model directions were used) wind=Data type level2= Level-2 derived product .nc (netCDF file extension) e.g. S1A_ESA_2015_10_06_00_20_29_0497406029_35.47W_76.28S_HH_C5_GFS05CDF_wind_level2.nc 2. GeoTIFF files: S1X_PCenter_YYYY_MM_DD_HH24_MI_SS_JJJJJJJJJJ_DDD.DD[EW]_DD.DD[NS]_ PP_F#_Model_wind_level2.tiff - Sea Surface wind data set from SENTINEL-1X in GeoTIFF format at a given location. File naming convention uses "_" as delimiters and the first element is an abbreviated version of the SAR sensor/satellite. S1X=S1A (for Sentinel-1A) or S1B (for Sentinel-1B); =the name of the processing center as included in the original data (e.g. ESA); YYYY_MM_DD=Numeric Year-Month-Day of center of data acquisition in UTC; HH24_MM_SS=Numeric Hour-Minute-Second of center of data acquisition in UTC; JJJJJJJJJJ = JULIAN SECONDS of center of data acquisition. Seconds are referenced with respect to January 1, 2000 00:00:00 UTC; DDD.DD(EW) = Longitude in degrees; DDD.DD(NS) = Latitude in degrees, E or W; PP = HH, VV, HV, or VH polarization; F#=The first letter represents the SAR frequency, L-band, C-band, or X-band. The digit(s) (#) represent which geophysical model function (GMF) was used for the wind retrieval. The default value is 0; Model=is a string designating the model winds used for direction; wind=Data type; level2=File type; '.tiff' represents the file is in GeoTiff format.
