This DVD folder contains World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) Delayed-mode Sea Level Data in WOCE Version 3.0 NetCDF format as well as simple ASCII files. Data have been assembled and quality controlled from approximately 160 coastal tide gauge sites and 50 deployments of deep sea bottom pressure recorders. 

This folder is one in a set of over a dozen folders within this DVD set containing other data types, such as current meter, float, hydrography and air-sea meteorology, from other WOCE Data Assembly Centres. The WOCE Version 3.0 Global Data set is the third and last in the series. 

This data set is a product of the WOCE Data Assembly Centre (DAC) for Delayed-mode Sea Level Data, which is located at the British Oceanographic Data Center (BODC), Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory, Bidston Observatory, Prenton, CH43 7RA, United Kingdom. 

Responsibility for data management of the in-situ sea level data set for the World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) was jointly vested in the University of Hawaii Sea Level Center (UHSLC) and the British Oceanographic Data Centre (BODC). The two centres perform complementary activities, with the UHSLC acting as the 'fast delivery' centre, providing rapid access to data for those involved in satellite altimetry, and BODC as the 'delayed-mode' centre, providing the fully quality controlled comprehensive data set.

Where ever possible, sea level data in the 'fast delivery' Sea Level DAC folder starts in 1985 and continues up until the end of 2001. The 'delayed-mode Sea Level DAC includes data extending back in time as far as possible. In a few cases the data extend back to the early 1900s.
