whats on this disk

This World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) Satellite Sea Surface Temperature (SST) Data DVD folder contains gridded SST over the global oceans. There is a longer time series from PO.DAAC: The documentation summarizes the production scheme, processing methodology, and other pertinent general issues.

Both NetCDF data files (ending in .nc) and gif images of each grid (ending in .gif) are included. Also included are documentation describing the data, a program to animate the browse images in any time window, and simple programs to read the data values.

This folder is part of a larger set, produced under the guidance of the Data Products Committee of the World Ocean Circulation Experiment. The larger set includes in-situ data on ocean temperature, salinity, tracers, currents (from current meters, ADCP, floats and drifters), sea level, surface meteorology, as well as a comprehensive overview of data collection during WOCE. For more information, contact NOAA/NODC.
