The area of interest was between 10S to about 5N. Calibrated and edited data were extracted from the data base at .5hour resolution and with the original 8m vertical resolution. The data are organized in sections. Data were then interpolated onto a regular grid by objective mapping. As the sections were either in meridional or zonal directions the grid follows the main section-direction with dimensions of 0.1 degrees. THE NODC ARCHIVE ONLY CONTAINS THE GRIDDED DATA SET WHICH HAS BEEN ADAPTED TO THE NODC STANDARD SUBSET. THE NOMINAL TIMES FROM THE OBJECTIVE MAPPING SCHEME HAVE BEEN MAINTAINED; THAT IS, THE TIME INTERVALS ARE NOT HOURLY, BUT VARY FROM 1/2 HOUR TO SEVERAL HOURS.
