***************************************************************** Journal for accession number: 0156188 Created on: 2016-07-29 20:16:34 UTC By: Automated Ingest Agent Source: University of Washington (UW) Seaglider Program Actions: An automated process extracted the data files from the compressed tar archive file and validated the data files against the included manifest, then discarded the original tar file. An automated process processed the email message from the provider, and cross-referenced the tar file to the email. Finally, an automated process copied the data files to the data/0-data directory of this accession, extracted longitude and latitude information from the data files, plotted a sample location map, and copied the email to the about directory of this accession. about/ This directory contains files generated by NODC with ancillary information about the data submission. 0-email.txt - E-mail from submitter notifying NODC that they uploaded their data to the NODC FTP server. 0156188_lonlat.txt - Contains sample locations for these data. Each row contains the geographical position where these data were collected (longitude in the left column and latitude in the right column, both in degrees). 0156188_map.jpg - Sample location map for these data. 0156188_FGDC-STD001-1988.xml - Metadata record for the archived data, in Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (FGDC-STD-001-1998) XML format. data/0-data/ This directory contains the data and information files as NDBC submitted them to NODC. The file naming conventions for these files are as follows: Data file naming convention: p_.nc where p = Prefix identifying file; = unique three character numeric serial number used to identify glider; = four character numeric deployment number; = date identifying the start date of dive; .nc = netCDF file extension. Some data files included in this package could not be processed. This is normal and happens when the scientist decides to skip the profile after looking at the data. No processing is performed and only the raw data are recorded. The data provider marks such data files with the "skipped_profile" attribute. Since NODC could not process those data files, they were not used to determine locations or dates of observations. The names of the "skipped" files are as follows: p0300104_20061209.nc
