the Great Lakes Observing System (GLOS).

Actions: NODC copied the package from the glos.us FTP server to NODC. 
The package was validated and unpacked (e.g. using 'gunzip' and 
'tar -xvf') into the data/0-data/ directory.

This directory contains files generated by NODC with ancillary information
about the data submission.

0123649_lonlat.txt -
  Contains sample locations for these data.  Each row contains the
  geographical position where these data were collected (longitude in the
  left column and latitude in the right column, both in degrees).

0123649_map.jpg - 
  Mooring location map for these data.

0123649_FGDC-STD-001-1998.xml -
  Metadata record for the archived data, in Federal Geographic Data
  Committee (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata
  (FGDC-STD-001-1998) XML format.

data/0-data/
This directory contains the data files as GLOS submitted them
to NODC. The file naming conventions for these files are as follows: 

buoyID_dataType_YYYY_MM_DD.nc
where:
buoyID -
  Identifier of the platform from which the data was collected.
dataType -
   Type of data that is contained in the file. (e.g. sea_water_temperature)
YYYY_MM_DD -
  Year, month, day when GLOS generated   the file.
nc -
  netCDF file type
