Dear Captain Sheasley:

 

On or about 4 March, 2009, your vessel being ready for sea and
weather permitting, you will depart Honolulu, Hawaii on Leg IV of
Voyage #195. Upon completion of the science activities the vessel
shall call at the port of Puerto Ayora, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador on
or about 23 March, 2009.

 

The research objective is the recovery of one surface mooring.

 

The planned activities include yo-yo casts to 400 meters with CTD
(three times up/down upon arrival at the site and then again just
before recovery of the mooring). 

 

The operations area will be at the Equator at 0 deg 05 N, 139 deg 59
W at 4300 meters.

 

Scientific marine research within the exclusive economic zone of any
foreign nation is strictly prohibited.

 

The scientific personnel participating on this leg under the
direction of Mr. James Johnson, Chief Scientist, University of
Washington Applied Physics Laboratory will be:

Please advise the Port Office of all personnel changes prior to
departure and maintain the daily SITREP via INMARSAT C or other means
as required

 

Please advise the Port Office of all significant expenses incurred,
particularly the quantity, price and source of fuel oil.  Also, at
each port stop, please advise the Port Office the gallons of fuel on
board, stating the date the inventory was taken.
