Remote Sensing Systems20130501MWIR optimum interpolated SST data set for 2011-08-05 (NODC Accession 0078064)MWIRNot specified1.0Santa Rosa, CA, USARemote Sensing Systemshttp://www.remss.comA Group for High Resolution Sea Surface Temperature (GHRSST) global Level 4 sea surface temperature analysis produced daily on a 0.81 degree grid at Remote Sensing Systems in realtime. This product uses optimal interpolation (OI) from both microwave (MW) sensors including the NASA Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer-EOS (AMSRE), and the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission Microwave Imager (TMI), and infrared (IR) sensors such as the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the NASA Aqua platform. The through-cloud capabilities of microwave radiometers provide a valuable picture of global sea surface temperature (SST) while infrared radiometers (i.e., MODIS) have a higher spatial resolution. This analysis does not use any in situ SST data such as drifting buoy SST. The product represents the realtime version of mw_ir_OI and is produced and made available as soon as possible, but users should use mw_ir_OI for the period of interest if available. The Global Ocean Data Assimilation Experiment (GODAE)

These FRs contain the spatial and temporal domain contained in each data file. The DIF-style metadata (the DSD and its children FRs) are converted to a single FGDC record for each NODC GHRSST accession, which can consist of several discrete data files. This conversion is accomplished using an XML stylesheet which builds a framework FGDC record based on the DSD, and populates it with one Entity for each data file based on the FRs. These Entities are given three Attributes: Latitude, Longitude, and Time. The Range Domain Minimum and Maximum elements within each of those Attributes are use to describe the spatial and temporal domain contained in the data file. So, for example, the Range Domain Minimum for the Attribute Latitude corresponds to a South Bounding Coordinate for that Entity. The Recommended GHRSST-PP Data Processing Specification
