-------- Original Message -------- Subject: USGS Field Experiment - Myrtle_Beach.zip Date: Fri, 06 Aug 2010 11:41:53 -0400 From: Scott Mowery To: NODC.DataOfficer@noaa.gov CC: emontgomery@usgs.gov, Scott Mowery Aloha Silver Spring! USGS Woods Hole Science Center legacy data uploaded for adding to the NODC Accessions. --------------------------------------------- Working with Ellyn Montgomery, USGS Woods Hole Data Manager, this is one element of the USGS inventory of archived time series data. Data is provided in the basic sample interval. Variables include, among others, currents, temperature, pressure, conductivity, light transmission (beam attenuation), etc. Time range of the complete series is 1975 - present. I have placed the files Myrtle_Beach.zip on the anonymous FTP site Liaison directory for your retrieval (ftp://ftp.nodc.noaa.gov/pub/incoming/liaison/). The zip file includes the complete datasets and supporting metadata / associated files for field activities from the Myrtle Beach Field Program, which include bottom current, wave and associated observations that were collected as part of a larger study to understand the physical processes that control the transport of sediments in Long Bay, South Carolina. This data report presents oceanographic observations made at eight locations on and near a shore-oblique sand deposit approximately 10 kilometers long, 2 kilometers wide, and in excess of 3 meters thick. Data includes basic sampling interval and hourly averaged data, Field Activity Reports, trip maps (.kml), metadata files, ship photos, cruise reports, and Google Earth KML files. Data submission POC is Scott Mowery, NCDDC Northeast Regional Science Officer. Original data from each cruise is stored in _Net_work _C_ommon _D_ata Format (netCDF) files using the EPIC (_E_quatorial _P_acific _I_nformation _C_ollection) conventions defined by the NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory.
