The purpose of this cruise is to collect hydrographic data on a meridional section nominally along 66 degrees West longitude from the Venezuela coast to Puerto Rico and thence northward to the continental shelf south of Cape Cod. Science Activities: Scientific activities will include CTD/rosette casts, the collection of underway and lowered ADCP data and the deployment of profiling ALACE (PALACE) floats. The first station, at the sill of the Carioca Basin, may be done as a joint operation with the Venezuelan R/V Hermano Gines of the Edimar Laboratory.
