Cruise Objective:   The overall purpose of this expedition is to: 1)
                    examine sea floor processes that control the
                    dissolution of CaCO3 (Jahnke, Sayles, Martin, Hales),
                    determine the particulate and dissolved distributions
                    of 231Pa and 230Th in the water column (Francois) and
                    the surface distributions of carbon isotopes and
                    alkenone biomarkers (Conte)
Science Activities: The sampling activities that will be required include:
                    multicorer sampling and deployments of the WHIMP pore
                    water sampling system with the trawl winch; deployments
                    of the HiPPS sediment corer on the hydro wire;
                    deployment/recovery of free vehicle benthic chamber and
                    microelectrode systems; CTD/rosette and deep in situ
                    pumping casts; and underway surface pump sampling
