Source:  This data set was acquired from data provider Dr. Jeremy Claisse of
	 The Vantuna Research Group, by NODC regional Liaison Officer, Patrick Caldwell.

Actions:  The data were submitted as one gzipped, tar file to the incoming NODC liaison
	  ftp directory.  Data were untarred and the original tar file removed.
	  Original files were placed in the data/0-data/ directory.  Files which
	  were translated to archival format by the NODC Liaison Officer were placed 
	  in the data/1-data/ directory.  Upon review of the data files, it was discovered 
	  that two files contained content problems rendering both original and transformed
	  files un-readable.  NODC Liaison Officer was able to obtain a corrected dataset 
	  from the provider.  This updated data was a full replacement of the original MS Excel 
	  spreadsheet submission.  Therefore, new transforms were made and placed in data/1-data/.  

	  Geographic positions were extracted from the meta data file and used to create 
	  an image file dipicting transect locations.  This file was placed in the about/ directory.

This directory contains files gnerated by NODC with ancillary information 
about the data submission.

0-email.txt - E-mail correspondence between the data provider and the NODC
	      Liaison Officer identifying the data submission for archive.

1-email.txt - E-mail correspondence between the data provider and the NODC
	      Liaison Officer clarifying data content resolutions during 
	      preparation for archiving.

2-email.txt - Email correspondence between NODC Data Content Manager and the
	      NODC Liaison Officer identifying additional content problems in
	      the submitted MS Excel workbook. 

3-email.txt - E-mail correspondence containing conversations of the data provider,
	      the NODC Liaison Officer and the NODC Data Content Manager, identifying
	      the problems and providing an updated corrected file for archiving.

FGDCmetadata.xml - NODC-generated FGDC formatted metadata file.

simple_metadata.txt - NODC-generated metadata file in ASCII text format.

0070530_lonlat.txt - Observation locations for this dataset.  Each row contains
	   	     geographic position (longitude then latitude, in decimal degrees).

00670530_map.jpg - Image file containing observation positions for this dataset.



data/0-data
This directory contains the original data and information files as submitted
to NODC by the originator.  Files include data in a MS Excel formatted .xls workbook
containing multiple worksheets, a metadata report in MS Word .docx format and several
photographic .jpg image files, divided among two subdirectories named for each transect..  

data/1-data
This directory contains files that NODC converted from their originally submitted 
format in the 0-data/ directory to an archival format that NODC can better preserve.  

Original Excel workbook was exported to .csv format.  One file was generated for each 
worksheet.  The .csv file name convention contains the original file name with 
each sheet name appended, all blanks in names have been replaced with underscores "_".  
Pdf files were also created for Excel worksheets that were deemed to not be easily
decipherable as a .csv file or contained color formatting within the .xlsx worksheet. 
Naming conventions follows that of the .csv files.  The .docx metadata file was converted 
to .pdf format saved wtih the same file name.
