May share Tivey computer in sphere that is already gas tested or get a laptop gas tested. Will provide wiring diagrams to Shawn and proof of pressure testing for Mass Spec. Data from Mass Spec might be requested to be included on cruise data DVD from SSSG tech. (JD 6/12) Alvin group has tested laptop for Girguis (JD 8/14) Reefer/Storage Van to be provided by Peter Girguis, 20ft. 440VAC, (6,500 lbs empty, Aluminum construction) Port Side main deck. (JD 6/12) Ray Lee's group will not be loading this Reefer/Storage van in Astoria. They will be driving their gear down from WA. (JD 8/9) Potted temperature probes to be deployed (size of a quarter) (JD 6/12) Shipboard For alvin work anticipate some time devoted to Equipment/Nav: making a detailed map of magnetic gradient and bathymetry over vent system, perhaps 2 hours per dive. Remainder of dive work devoted to opt. comms work. Transponders to be deployed before 2nd and remaining dives at Endeavor. (JD 6/12) Middle Valley - No transponders for the two dives planned at Middle Valley.(JD 6/12) Lee will load from 18 ft U-Haul, forklift not expected to be needed. (JD 6/12) Gas bottles and liquid nitrogen (possible) to be loaded (JD 6/12) Instrument to test from the 1/4 "hydrowire - The instrument that we want to drop over the side on the winch (the "Laser Spec") - weighs ~67lbs in air and is ~9lbs positive in water.* It's housing is 45inches long with a diameter of 7 inches - plus a lightweight protective cage on the end extending it another 12 inches.
