      This is to inform you that I am submitting for archival the datasets
  for aerial surveys of ringed seals conducted in the Alaskan Beaufort Sea
  during 1985-1987 and 1996-1999.   The data will be submitted on CD in Excel
  format accompanied by appropriate data documentation and NODC EDD forms.
  The data sets are being submitted by mail.


  The datasets include data collected under Minerals Management Service
  cooperative agreement 14-35-0001-30810, as well as as data from aerial
  surveys conducted in the 1980s with NOAA/NMFS funding.  The data from
  the 1980s surveys has been previously archived with NODC in format 0127.
  The 1980s datasets included with this submission are a subset of the
  previous data, and include only data from a particular altitude, certain
  dates, etc.

  I am also including on the CD electronic versions of the final report to
  MMS and of a manuscript submitted to the journal Arctic which includes 
  survey methods and interpretation.
