The main scientific research objective is to quantify elemental fluxes and fluid origins from margins using novel submarine instrumentation. Science activities planned include Alvin dives and CTD casts. The operations area will be the Costa Rica Ridge in the vicinity of 8o 55.45'N; 84o18.45'W. Scientific marine research clearance within the exclusive economic zone of Costa Rica is pending.
