Acknowledgements

It is with great appreciation for their hard work and dedication that the U.S. JGOFS DMO acknowledges the efforts of so many people who contributed to this data report publication.

Funding Agencies

The U.S. JGOFS process study research programs were funded primarily by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) with additional support provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Office of Naval Research (ONR).

Principal Investigators, Research Assistants, Shipboard Technicians, Laboratory Staff

The scientists and their colleagues who collected, analyzed and reported all of this data are listed with each separate data entity.

Officers and Crew of the Research Vessels

The acquisition of oceanographic data can not be accomplished without the dedication of the officers and crew of the scientific research fleet. The U.S. JGOFS program gratefully acknowledges their participation in the collection of this data.

U.S. JGOFS Data Management Office

The U.S. JGOFS Data Management Office, funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and located at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, has been staffed between 1994 and 2003 by Cynthia Chandler, David Glover, Christine Hammond, George Heimerdinger and Dave Schneider. Special recognition is afforded George Heimerdinger who was involved with U.S. JGOFS data management from the program's inception, and whose efforts have been essential in the final preparation of documents for this report. Terri MacEachern (University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth) was hired in the summer of 2002 to assist with exportation of all information from the U.S. JGOFS web server to the CD-ROM. This report could not have been completed in time for the final JGOFS Open Science Conference in May 2003 without the efforts of George and Terri.

U.S. JGOFS Planning and Implementation Office

Ken Buesseler and Mary Zawoysky of the U.S. JGOFS Planning and Implementation Office, also located at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, gathered and prepared final documents for this report. Mardi Bowles provided editorial assistance with several documents and is the credited original editor for others.

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) Staff

Many people at WHOI were involved in this project. The entire publication process was facilitated because excellent quality support facilities and scientific expertise were so readily available. The individuals acknowledged below were directly involved in producing this report.

Computer and Information Services (CIS)
Christine Hammond, originally with the DMO and subsequently Assistant Director of CIS, provided continual support and arranged access to a variety platforms during the final testing phase. Adam Shepherd, Web Development and Applications Programmer, designed and developed JGView, the custom JAVA data retrieval tool.

Graphic Services and Publications
Katherine Joyce, Graphic/Web Designer, created the graphics used for the CD-ROM insert, welcome page and JGView splash screen and Dave Gray produced all the copies of this report.

Scientific Departments
Several data scientists at WHOI participated in the final review of the CD-ROM data directories: Theresa McKee (Physical data) and Margaret Sulanowska (NABE and EqPac Chemical data). During the entire program, the DMO relied heavily on many WHOI scientists for expertise in their specific disciplines.

Web Communications
The U.S. JGOFS web site design was developed by Lori Dolby and it was used as the template for this publication. Danielle Fino, Web Communications Manager, provided expertise relating to design, layout and navigation concepts.
