It basically has a thermistor and nephelometer and is used to detect disturbances in the water column associated with hydrothermal circulation and venting. SIO will also be bringing dredges and possibly weak links Shipboard Doppler/GPS Navigation Equipment/Nav: Other Requirements: Night Work Anticipated Notes: Will need to store rock samples on board to be off-loaded at Woods Hole 2 dredging techs(SIO) and seabeam tech (WHOI) Tolstoy - The estimate that Jeff Babcock provided earlier in the year was ~18 hours to recover 12 instruments and 12 hours deploy another 12. So that's less than 2 days if all goes well. If time permits after our OBS turn-around work, we'd like to take a few hours to lower a pressure gauge on a wire that Don Fornari will be providing for the site to allow for tidal and temperature measurements. Will need CTD or another wire for this. A trawl wire lowering within ~300-500m of the bottom will also be required to test LC2000 acoustics. This is a small package weighing only 300-400 lbs.
