-------- Original Message -------- Subject: Submission of CTD and SVD data from the FAIRWEATHER - PWS P132 Date: Wed, 07 Jan 2009 15:42:51 -0500 From: Ruby Becker To: Thomas Ryan Tom, Last submission today. Attached are 4 zip files containing data from sound velocity casts acquired by the NOAA Ship FAIRWEATHER and its launches for their project PWS OPR-P132-FA-08 1. FA_LAUNCH1_CTD_2008_7.zip contains 17 CTD files 2. FA_LAUNCH2_CTD_2008_7.zip contains 4 CTD files 3. FA_CTD_2008_7.zip contains 4 CTD files 4. FA_SVD_2008_7.zip contains 292 SVD files Total: 317 files The headers in all the files contain Project, Survey, Date, Time, Latitude, Longitude, and Instrument information. For the CTD files: Pressure and Temperature were obtained directly from a Sea-Bird Electronics 19Plus Seacat Profiler . Salinity was derived using Sea-Bird's software, SBEDataProcessing. All three variables have been averaged into depth bins and then fitted to 1-decibar intervals by means of parabolic fitting. For the SVD files: Depth and sound velocity down the water column were acquired using a Brooke-Ocean MVP Profiler. The filenames for the files have format YYDDDHHMM.ssA or YYDDHHMM.ssD where: YY = 2-digit year DDD = day-of-year HH = hour of the day (UTC) MM = minutes of the hour ss indicates the vessel: FA for the ship, F1, F2 for launches 1010, 1018 respectively. A indicates that the archive is of type CTD D indicates a sound velocity vs depth file archive file. Thanks, Ruby
