Subject: Data Submission from RAINIER From: Ruby Becker Date: Wed, 06 Sep 2006 10:22:59 -0400 To: Francis Mitchell Hello again, Francis Attached are 6 zip files containing data from sound velocity casts acquired by the NOAA Ship RAINIER and five of its launches during their most recent project, the Shumagin Islands. (This submission is RAINIER's second thus far for 2006) 1. RA_LAUNCH1_CTD_ARCHIVE_2.zip contains 9 files. 2. RA_LAUNCH3_CTD_ARCHIVE_2.zip contains 19 files. 3. RA_LAUNCH4_CTD_ARCHIVE_2.zip contains 53 files. 4. RA_LAUNCH5_CTD_ARCHIVE_2.zip contains 9 files. 5. RA_LAUNCH6_CTD_ARCHIVE_2.zip contains 30 files. 6. RAINIER_CTD_ARCHIVE_2.zip contains 37 files. Total: 157 files The headers in the files contain Project, Survey, Date, Time, Latitude, Longitude, and Instrument information. Pressure and Temperature were obtained directly from a Sea-Bird Electronics 19Plus Seacat Profiler. Salinity was derived using Sea-Birds's software, SBEDataProcessing. All three variables have been averaged into depth bins and then fitted to 1-decibar intervals by means of parabolic fitting. The filenames for MOST of the zip files have format YYDDDHHMM.ssa where: YY = 2-digit year DDD = day-of-year HH = hour of the day (UTC) MM = minutes of the hour ss indicates the vessel: ra and zz for the ship; r1, r3, r4, r5, r6 for launches 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 respectively. a indicates that the archive is of type CTD PLEASE NOTE: Launches 4 and 6 used a older version of the software creating these files so for these vessels the filename format is: YYDDDHHM.ssa. In other words, the filename only contains the first digit of the minutes of the hour. Thanks for your help, Ruby
