-------- Original Message -------- Subject: WOOD beam c & Secchi data Date: Fri, 15 Dec 2006 16:37:01 -0500 From: Smart, Jeffrey H. To: Alexey Mishonov Dear Alex: The header lines looks like: YEAR,DAY,TIME,LAT,LON,TEST,CAST,INSTR,NPTS,PTYPE,L_EDIT,L_EQUAL,NEWHEAD,TIMEFLAG,CENTWAVE,BANDWITH,VERTRES,DCODE,AUTHOR,DEPTH, DATA,WATER,PROF_NUM,DATETIME,ALT_WATER,NODC TEST is a cruise ID # More info about metadata are on the website & in the attached "SteFmt3.doc file) ignore the part about STE format & skip to the tables Please call if you have nay questions. next two lines are: 1) data DEPTHs & 2) data VALUES next line has WATER DEPTH ("WATER"), unique accession number ("PROF_NUM"), DATE/TIME ("DATETIME") & NODC. NODC is either a flag or the actual NODC accession number (applies ONLY to NODC source data) I suggest opening in EXCEL ( it will parse the data into columns that match the header names) or use WORDPAD.
