WDC-MARE Reports 0005/2007

CD-ROM content

This CD contains all data from 25 years of hydrographical measurements on the research vessel Polarstern.

The collection consists of 4,456 files. Data sets are provided as tab-delimited text (ascii) files in the folder "docs/datasets/" organized in three ZIP-archives. A list is provided which contains all parameters used in the data files. Please use the search engine to find data of interest.

All data on this CD are also available online through PANGAEA – Publishing Network for Geoscientific & Environmental Data (http://www.pangaea.de). Please report data corrections or problems with data download to info@pangaea.de.

The file wdc-mare_0005.pdf is the pdf-version of the printed WDC-MARE Report 0005.

To convert and compile output files from the archive the tool Pan2Applic is recommended.

A local search engine will be started automatically after inserting the CD. If "Autostart" is disabled, the starting procedure depends on the platform:

• Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP: double click "winstart.exe" on CD-ROM
• MacOS X: double click the "macstart" application on CD-ROM
• Unix (Linux, Solaris, BSD,...): execute "sh ./unixstart.sh" from terminal and follow the instructions. Solaris users have to mount the CD/DVD explicitely as Rockridge/ISO9660 volume.

Important: The local search engine requires a Java VM installed on your system. If for some reason the Java environment is not found, the starting procedure offers the option to install the latest JRE from Sun (see folder "support"). In addition JavaScript must be enabled in your browser.

If your browser does not display the homepage after starting the local webserver, you should disable proxies in your browser configuration. If you cannot do this because of firewall or access restrictions (ask your system administrator), add "127.0.0.1" to the proxy exemptions.
