Now, the last part of data, Deep Blue section. Some comments about Deep Blue XBTs: * XBT time is always UTC time; * Each XBT drop has been done within few minutes from the corresponding CTD cast, the vessel being motionless. * Sometimes, two XBTs have been sequentially dropped. * The launching position is always 2.5 m over sea level, with the exception of some drops in Sept-Oct. 2004. In this case, the height is 8 m o.s.l. , and the comment (BRIDGE) has been added before the name of the CTD station. The influence of the height of the launching position has been studied. * I have eliminated the last part of each EDF unprocessed file when the value indicating the wire breaking appears (usually at 920 or 960 m depth); * Unfortunately, I have not the original January 2004 Deep Blue RDF files (because of a dramatic and unrecoverable crash of the hard disk of the acquisition computer in February 2004). I have only files after the elimination of values indicating wire breaking. In that cruise, bad weather conditions (both strong wind and rain) greatly influenced the quality of data acquisition. * The same instruments (cables, MK-12 junction box, PC( but with a different HD), MK12) have been used for Deep Blue drops (also for T4 and T6 drops). Now, I'm analyzing T5 probes (2007 cruises, but the sample is small, unfortunately....)
