This directory contains files generated by NODC with ancillary information
about the data submission.

AAAAAAA_lonlat.txt - Station locations for these data.  Each row contains the
                     geographical position for a station (longitude in the left
                     column and latitude in the right column, both in degrees).
                     AAAAAAA is the NODC Accession number for these data.

AAAAAAA_map.jpg - Station location map for these data.

MEDS_data_format.txt - Description of the Marine Environmental Data Service
                       (MEDS) data file format.

YYYYMMDDHHmm_codes.txt - Definitions of codes used in each data file.  Also,
                         includes count (number of times that a code is used in
                         a data file), field (field names used in the MEDS data
                         file format), code table (names of code tables used in
                         NODC's database for the Global Temperature-Salinity
                         Profile Program), and value (the codes that are used
                         in data file).  YYYYMMDDHHmm in the file name is the
                         date and time when ISDM updated their database with
                         the data in the file YYYYMMDDHHmm.meds (YYYY for year,
                         MM for month, DD for day, HH for hour, and mm for
                         minute).

YYYYMMDDHHmm_sum.txt - Summary of statistics for each data file.  Includes
                       geographical bounding box of data, number of stations,
                       counts of stations by data and profile types, number of
                       profiles, number of profiles that are neither salinity
                       or temperature profiles, and counts of profiles by type.

This directory contains the profile data files in the MEDS data file format.
ISDM submitted these files to NODC via ftp.
