Slave servers assist in answering requests from NIS clients. Each time that
maps are changed, the master server notifies slaves to make local copies
of the maps. Any network with NIS clients must have at least one NIS
server.
To use this form, complete the entry fields or change the values that
the form contains; then, click the Ok button to put the
changes in effect.
Enable NIS slave server: This selection turns the slave
server function on or off for this host. Select Yes to enable this
system to act as a slave server for this domain, or select No to prevent
this system from acting as a slave.
NIS domain name: This field specifies the name of the domain
for which this host will act as a slave server. The domain must be served by
the master server that you specify in the NIS master server entry field (below).
Hostname of NIS master server: Enter the name or address
of the master server for this domain. If you enter an address, use
dotted decimal (such as 1.2.3.4) or hexadecimal (such as 0x01020304) format.
