Dr. Arun Hari Parulekar is a Scientist[Deputy Director] and Head of Biological Oceanography Division at NIO,Goa . Formely,he worked as Emeritus Scientist.

He completed his Ph.D in 1964 at University of Bombay, He did his M.Sc. in 1958 and B.Sc in 1956 both from the same University .

He obtained many fellowships in Oceanographic field, some of the organisations are:National Academy of Sciences of India, Academy of Environmental Biology, Zoological Society of India, Maharashtra Academy of Sciences, Society of Biosciences of India and India Fisheries Association.
He is the holder of Bursary Award in Life Sciences,1975 from Royal Society,besides this he is honoured by Sawantwade Muncipal Council in 1982 and Kolhapur Muncipal Corporation in 1983.
He has been Visiting Lecture of U.G.C. for quite a number of times.

Bioactivity: Taxonomy, Chemical ecology; Screening & Product Development
Polar biology: Ecology & Productivity- Krill, benthos & higher vertebrates

Besides these he has been guide to 22 Ph.D.Students, over Ten Universities has recognised him as Ph.D. guide. Seven Universities nominated him on Board of Studies. He also has vast experience as Visiting Faculty/Resource Person in many recognised Universities.

He has been in Editorial Commitee of various Research Journals, Indian Journal of Fisheries (1994-), Asian Fisheries (1993 -), Journal of Marine Archaeology(1992-), Indian Journal of Marine Sciences(1989-1992), Marine Ecology Progress Series, Journal of Molluscan Studies, Hydrobiologia, Deep Sea Research, Aquaculture, Pakistan Journal of Marine Sciences, Asian Aquaculture, Proceedings of Indian National Science Academy, Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences of India, Journal of Bombay Natural History Society, Tropical Ecology are few of them.
