Dr. Pothuri Divakar Naidu has graduated from Shri Venkateswara University in 1981 and did his PhD at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He is a recipient of Sri Kandula Obula Reddy Award and Gold Medal for his excellent academic carrier in B. Sc. and M. Sc. respectively. Dr. Naidu joined National Institute of Oceanography in 1982, initially he was actively involved in collecting the shallow seismic, sidescan sonar and bathymetric data for various sponsored projects to evaluate the sea bed nature for selecting the sub-marine pipeline routes for the development of ports and harbours.

His research interests are in the fields of Paleoceanography, Monsoon, Paleoclimatololgy, and Paleontology. Recently, he carried out High-resolution studies of Asian Monsoon Climate. Currently he is working on the problem "abrupt and rapid climatic changes in the tropics and their link with the global climate changes" . He has published 22 research articles in national and international journals, participated in several international conferences and visited number of western universities in North America and Europe.

Dr. Naidu is a member in American Geophysical Union, European Union of Geosciences, North American Micropaleontological Society and Paleontological Society of Japan.
