He got his MTech, at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, INDIA, in 1981. His fied of study was Ocean Engineering. His courses were Ocean Waves and Wave Effects, Dynamics of Ocean Structures, Marine Geotechnique and Oceanography.
Dr. S. Mandal got his BTech., at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagput, INDIA, with Basic Aeronautical Engineering Discipline courses with specialization in Structural Analysis, Fluid Mechanics, Aerodyanamics and Numerical methods, in 1979.
Proffessional Experience.
He is working at NIO since December 1992 to present. He was appointed as Asst. Director in Ocean Engineering Division. He as worked as a project leader in association with Multinational agencies;
He has also examined three M.Sc.( Ocean Engg.) theses fro IIT Madras, India.He also acted as a guide for one MTech thesis on design of single-buoy-moorings in coastal waters.
At University College London, London, UNITED KINGDOM, presented System identification algorithms, namely, AR, MA ARMA, ARIMA, MAR successfully applied to ocean waves, platform deck motions, monohull crane vessel motions, semisubmersible heave motions. Developed reduced Order ARMA algorithms applied to spectral estimation of ocean waves.
