K.Ashok Kumar is working as Scientist E1 in Ocean Engineering Division. Graduated from Osmania University in Science,holds Masters Degree in applied electronics from the same University.
Before joining to NIO, he worked as Sales Engineer at Sujata Sales and Electronics Ltd. to solve the engineering problems in this field. At NIO he gained good experience in using and developing various electronic Oceanographic Instruments.
Kumar is having experience in using various sophisticated marine instruments such as Directional waverider buoys, Wave receiver/recording units, Rotor current meters, Electromagnetic and Doppler current meters, Acoustic releases, Self recording tide guages, Automatic weather stations, Differential global positioning systems, Echo sounder, etc.
He has also developed user-interactive software to read instrumental raw data and application software, on waves, currents and tides for on-line data acquisition processing and analysis.
He has experience in maintaining and using the personal compurers, plotters, printers and test equipment.
His special interest lies in developing suitable oceanographic instruments, particularly to solve problems posed during rough weather conditions experienced during the monsoons in India.
He has made 39 publications of journals, Conferences and technical reports. He has participated and executed 50 Sponsored/Consultancy projects
Kumar is having a good exposure to BASIC, FORTRAN, C++, GRAPHER, SURFER, MS OFFICE 97 DOS, NORSK DATA and WINDOS 95 Computer Softwares.
