MY HOME TOWN

I hail from Tirupathi, the world's second biggest
pilgrim center, in Andhra Pradesh state of India.

LANGUAGES I CAN SPEAK

Apart from TELUGU, my mother tongue,
I speak two other Indian languages - Hindi and Tamil.

MY EDUCATION

Finished my +2 from Kendriya Vidayala, Tirupathi with Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry as main subjects in 1987. Joined Sri Venkateswara University College of Engineering, Tirupathi, in 1987 for Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering and completed in 1991. My project was on the design of an earth dam under the guidance of Prof. C. Venkataramaiah and Dr. A. V. Narasimha Rao.

Joined Ocean Engineering Center of Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (Now Chennai) for post-graduation in Ocean Engineering. Obtained my Masters in 1993 during which I did a short project on the estimation of life of concrete based on diffusion of chloride ions considering the Crank's solution for the diffusion equation and experimental data on the diffusive properties of concrete. I conducted experimental investigations on the properties of hardened concrete with Condensed Silica Fume as an admixture. The properties considered were compressive strength, tensile strength, water absorption, water evaporation, surface hardness and length change. Both the projects were done under the supervision of Prof. K. Ganesh Babu.

RESEARCH

After my post-graduation I spent a period of nine months at Ocean Engineering Center with Dr.J.S.Mani, Associate Professor, and conducted experimental investigations on the wave transmission characteristics of Suspended Pile Breakwater. This work has been published in ASCE Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal and Ocean Engineering, Vol. 121 No. 6, pp 335 - 338. Apart from the experimental investigation, I had a experience of the problems associated with coastal aquaculture farms.

Joined Ocean Engineering Division (OED) of National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa, in December 1993 and started my scientific research. I am involved in the ongoing research programs of OED in the form of contract & sponsored projects.

Some of the studies carried out are mentioned below:

Study on movement of dredge disposal off Kavaratti Island, Lakshadweep sea of India.
Environmental parameters for construction of offshore facilities at various locations off the Indian coast including Vadinar, Mangalore, Guhagar, Kharo creek, Nagapattinam, Tuticorin, Goa, Kandla, etc.
Pre-feasibility study for construction of a Jetty off Maharashtra coast, India.
Beach replenishment studies for Vainguinim beach, Goa, India.
Wave measurement programs off Guhagar, Nagapattinam, Goa, Pipavav, Tuticorin, Androth Island along the Indian coast.
Evaluation of breakwater sections and wave tranquillity studies for Maharashtra ports.

PUBLICATIONS

A research paper has been accepted for publication in Journal of Coastal Research on the Beach Replenishment study for Vainguinim beach, Goa.

A research paper in Indian Journal of Marine Sciences on the Dredge disposal movement off Kavaratti Island has been published. (IJMS, vol. 25, pp 66 - 70)

Two papers have been presented in International Conference in Ocean Engineering, held at IIT, Madras, India, in December 1996.

Four papers have been presented in conferences and symposia held in India.
