Objectives/Scope of the Project :
- To promote the utilization of available knowledge-base and facilitate the
users within the country.
- To acquire all primary information and create database pertaining to the
scientific study in Indian Ocean and adjacent waters.
Present Status :
- The potential users have been informed of the facilities by distribution
of the promotional material.
- All information dissemination channels have been made open.
- Over 8000 records added to the database 'INDOCEAN'.
Work Plan with Phases/Milestones:
- Advertisement of posts and recruitment
- Acquisition of equipment
- Upgradation of existing system
- Preparation & large scale distribution of handouts and related material
- Designing a database for Indian Ocean and other related software
- Providing the services to the users as per thier demand using existing resources
- Acquisition, analysis of literature / data for database on the Indian Ocean
- Data entry and Data validation checks.
- Market Survey : a. Looking for online hosts, database vendors, etc who can
take this product and database on CD.
- Modification in the database structure , etc if required for CD making.
- Production of first database to the online vendors and on the proposed Indian
NationalOceanographic Internet Server.
