MISSION STATEMENTS

ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES :

Broad mission of this programme is to monitor national, regional and global trends that impinge on the coastal environment, and to keep scientifically abreast of the issues involved, so that the Institute fulfills a scientific proactive advisory role as a National Oceanographic Research Institute in response to the needs of the Government, Industry and the Society

RURAL DEVELOPMENT :

Broad mission of this programme is to look for suitable opportunities to implement marine technology transfer programme to rural coastal communities.

MARINE ARCHAEOLOGY :

Broad mission of this programme is to reinforce the scientific base of marine archaeological investigation and to make tactical decisions on apportioning our efforts in marine archaeology so that the demands of science, commerce, archaeology and society, as also links to the global community are met.

Broad mission of this programme is to implement compact standalone museums for marine archaeology and marine biology in the immediate present and simultaneously draw up the plans for a major marine museum initiative in Goa.
