The Report :
A brief account of production, grading and marketing, properties of wool fibers in India are discussed. Various segments of the woollen textile industry need to be modernised. Hence, modernisation aspects have been dealt with in detail in this report.
The scope for exports and the role of the decentralised sectors, such as khadi, handlooms for woollen products, salient research achievements in wool production and processing of wool in India have been discussed.
The future trends for wool & woollen products, as well as the prospects for the woollen textile industry, alongwith important recommendations for better utilisation of indigenously available wool for domestic and export markets are discussed and analysed in the last chapter.
The Authors :
Mr. N.P. Gupta, Head, Division of Textile Manufacture and Textile Chemistry, Central Sheep & Wool Research Institute, Aviknagar has about 17 years research experience in natural fibers. He has over 75 research papers to his credit. He has also contributed in star paper preparation/presentation on wool and hair fibers for policy formulation at the national level.
Mr. P.C. Patni has wide experience in industry and at CSWRI. He has over 30 research papers to his credit.
Dr. S. Parthasarthy is at CSWRI, working on physico-chemical, mechanical and structural properties of Indian wools. He has over 50 research papers to credit.
