SIGNIFICANT
ACHIEVEMENTS
- Development
of FRP gear case for traction motor of 2600hp locomotive of Indian Railways
- six such gear cases have been handed over to BHEL who has sent these
to RDSO for field trials.
- Studies tfor
performance improvement in coal washeries - 400mm Vorsyl seperator (made
of MS) installed parallel to the existing HM-cyclone at TISCO has lead
to the increase in the yield of clean coal. As a follow-up these studies
TISCO is going to procure a vorsys seperator made of Ni hard for regular
operation.
- Development
of building components using red-mud and sisal fibres in polymer matrix
as alternative material for building components like door, door panels
has been developed, and the RMP doors have been certified for their performance.
- Development
of ceramic fibre preforms.
- Development
of alluminium alloy SIC particulate composite brake drum for Jonga Jeep
- performance evaluation underway at VRDC. Preliminary trials have shown
the performance of the drums to be better than that of the conventional
cast iron drums.
- Use of SL 1Z
alloys for making bearings.- bearings o fdifferent sizes have been produced
and sent to different mines and user industries for field trials.
- Development
of clay ash bricks.
- Development
of industrial utilization of fertilizer minerals of M. P. siliconee rock
phosphate and dolomite rock.
- Development
of waste lands at the site of power stations - significant success has
been acheived in the cultivation of wheat and sunflower and vegetables
at the site of power starion of NTPC in Rihand Nagpur.
- Ground water
resources management - A working model has been developed for Tawa, command
area for estimating the groundwater potential. Guidance has been provided
for location, type and design of water conservation structure to meet drinking
water demand during peak summer, in problem villages of Dhar Dist.
