and applied research on economic plants.

relevant to plantation, forest, agriculture and horticulture produce with
a view to value addition and providing technological support for the development
of the existing and new industries in the Northern region of the country.

for high value aromatic plants products at pilot plant scale.

SIGNIFICANT
ACHIEVEMENTS

Development of agrotechnologies
for the cultivation of tea, gladiolus, chrysanthemum, rose, carnation,
tulip, bird of paradise, etc.

Standardization
of techniques for tea processing and essential oil distillation.

Increase in the
shelf life of kinnow and litchi fruits.
-
Development of tissue
culture techniques for mass propagation of elite planting materials
of tea and maggar bamboo, and for supply of disease-free plants of tiger-lillies
and gladiolus.

Development of low
cost greenhouses (polyhouses).
