The ship remained approximately stationary at 1.75S, 156E from 20 December 1992 to 11 January 1993. #PLATFORM_TYPE: ship #PLATFORM_NAME: R/V Moana Wave (call sign WUS9293) #COLLECTION_METHODS: Downward microstructure profiling was done using the CHAMELEON microstructure profiler, developed at Oregon State University. Additional measurements included monitoring of internal wave fields with a Aandera thermistor chain deployed from the ship's bow, and monitoring of near-surface structure with a 'fin' instrumented with temperature and salinity sensors. The CHAMELEON data contain temperature, salinity, density, zonal and meridional currents, and dissipation rates for turbulent kinetic energy and temperature variance. The microstructure profiler executed 6-8 profiles per hour during most of the cruise. (Profiling was suspended for about one hour each day near local noon (0100 GMT) for other ship operations.) The first depth bin is centered at 2m. Currents were measured from the shipboard ADCP, with frequency 150 kHz, bin length 4 m and pulse length 8 m. #PROCESSING_METHODS: Data have been averaged into bins spanning one hour and 4 meters in the vertical. The first depth bin is centered at 2 meters. #ANALYSIS_METHODS: #INSTRUMENTS: RDI ADCP (150 kHz), OSU CHAMELEON microstructure profiler, Aanderaa Thermistor Chain, "Fin" #PUBLICATIONS: J.N. The first column gives the time at the center of the hour as year day 1992, i.e., midnight GMT, 1 January 1992 = 1.0. Day 355 = 20 December. The remaining 63 columns give data for the depth bins centered at 2 m, 6 m, 10 m...250 m. Each row pertains to a single hour. #FORMAT_PUBLICATION: #FORMAT_COMMENTS: Missing data is indicated by the value 999.0. #SAMPLE_DATA: 355.020844 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 355.062500 34.1109 34.1135 34.1133 34.1134 34.1138 34.1135 34.1143 34.1178 34.1305 34.1388 34.1440 34.1527 34.1695 34.1822 34.1914 34.2628 34.2869 34.3165 34.5253 34.7900 34.8830 34.9240 34.9305 35.0639 35.1217 35.2047 35.2784 35.3392 35.3434 35.3617 35.4143 35.4767 35.4598 35.4510 35.4408 35.4214 35.3826 35.2562 35.1902 35.1641 35.1605 35.2073 35.2478 35.4961 35.6309 35.5766 35.5130 35.4793 35.3909 35.3318 35.2624 35.1832 35.0847 35.0114 34.9496 34.8907 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 999.0000 #MISC_DOCUMENTATION: ----------------
