README FILE ( COARE_adcpalis.readme) The towed ADCP observations were carried out onboard the R.V.Alis of ORSTOM ( Chief scientist: Marie-Helene Radenac ) moving slowly around the station or anchored on the stations. The towed body in which a 150 kHz RD Instruments ADCP is stored was suspended down at shallow depths through a rope from the surface floats. The data obtained from the downward looking ADCP were transferred to a computer on the Alis through a RS-422 link at real time. The ADCP observation was often interrupted by electric noises introduced in the RS-422 link. As a result, there were a lot of data lacking periods with the time width of a few minutes. The longest interruption occurred at 18/11/92 18:47:06 - 19/11/92 06:05:37 (UTC). The ADCP used a magnetic compass. The magnetic variation correction of +7.7 degrees has already been done. The ship positioning was obtained by a GPS.
