The following involves the work done on tape d00897.

     This is "towed STD" data.  The Data Documentation Form (DDF) indicates
that there should be nine (9) files of this data.  When the tape was
examined, only one (1) file was found.  This file has the total number of
records represented in the nine files.  This tape has binary data. 
According to the documentation, this tape was created on an HP computer. 
This computer is a sixteen-bit machine.  That is, each word consists of
sixteen (16) bits.

     Program, "TOWED-STD-CV", was used to convert the binary data into
ASCII characters.  This program was run on the UNISYS/2200 computer.  This
program automatically reads two (2) HP words into the UNISYS word.  This
word was divided into two (2) half-words for conversion from the binary
into the ASCII characters.
